Terms & Conditions
A contract shall only arise when your booking request is confirmed by email and once a deposit or full payment is made.
Charges and payments
At the time of placing the booking the guest shall pay the following:
- A deposit (20% of the rental fee)
- Any chargeable extras (if applicable)
Payment is to be made by inter-bank transfer or online via Paypal (credit or debit card). A deposit of 20%
of the price of the holiday is required within 7 days of the initial booking, and the balance will be due 6
weeks prior to the start of your holiday. The total cost of the holiday is to be paid if the booking is less
than 30 days from the start date of your holiday.
For verbal, text and e-mail bookings only, we will provisionally hold dates for 48 hours in order to enable you to discuss with others.
Arrival and departure
Tawelfa is available from 4 pm on the day of arrival and should be vacated by 10 am on the day of departure.
The code for the key box will be emailed with further arrival information 10 days before your arrival date.
There is as a minimum a roll of toilet paper per bathroom, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, bin bags
and basic cleaning products are provided. Nespresso pods are not provided. This is a starter pack designed
to help until guests can get to the shops to purchase the usual household items required.
There is a Welcome Folder with local information and brochures to help you find things to do. Alternatively, there are links on the Anglesey County Council website which you may find useful to view prior to your holiday.
- Security Deposit: We don’t ask for a security deposit. Having welcomed guests for over 10 years we have never had to charge for damages or breakages. We know that accidents do happen so we do ask that you tell us as soon as possible about any damage or breakages – this lets us replace items for the next guests. You commit to fully reimburse us, if asked, for the cost of replacement or repair for any breakages or damage.
- Services: Electricity and heating are provided by an Air Source heat pump. Guests are welcome to alter the settings if needed – further information is emailed prior to arrival and is in the guest handbook.
- Linen: All bed linen is included in the rental price (includes mattress and pillow protectors). There will be one bath towel per person and a bath mat in the bathroom. In most cases there will be a few hand towels as appropriate to the number of bathrooms. At least one tea towel is provided for your stay.
- Smoking: Tawelfa is a non-smoking cottage.
- Refuse: There is a commercial bin in the car park at Tawelfa (emptied every other week). Recycling can be put into the commercial bin as it is sorted through in a centre after collection. If you prefer, there are glass and paper recycling facilities in the village car park (which can be seen from the rear bedroom). Please ensure nappies and dog mess is bagged and then put in a larger bin bag before being disposed of.
- Dogs: A maximum of two dogs are permitted unless agreed. An additional fee of £20 may be charged.
Dogs are only accepted on the strict understanding that they are kept under control, and are not permitted on
the beds or on the furniture. They should not be left in the property unsupervised as this can result in
considerable damage to the property and distress to the dog. For the comfort of future guests, please ensure
that your dog’s flea and worming treatment is up to date.
Poo bags, dog bowls and treats are provided. Please bring your own dog bedding and towels. Tawelfa has an enclosed garden, however, this does not mean that it is totally escape-proof for dogs – very few gardens would pass this test. At the end of the holiday, all traces of the dog/s should be cleaned from the cottage and garden. Please bag and remove any dog excrement from the garden. - Parking: All parking in the private car park belonging to the four cottages at Gwel y Afon is at the Guest’s own risk. Tawelfa’s allocated space is number 4, a second car can be parked directly behind the allocated space. Two visitor spaces are available on a first come first served basis. Tawelfa’s owners do not take any responsibility for any damage that has been done to a guest’s car whilst using the parking spaces.
- Breakages: Guests should take all reasonable care of the property, its fixtures and fittings, and leave the accommodation in a good state of cleanliness. The housekeeper is not expected to wash dirty dishes left behind or empty the dishwasher and remove the rubbish from bins.
- Cancellations by the Guest: Cancellations should be confirmed in writing. We have the following
cancellation charges:
- If the booking is cancelled more than six weeks prior to the holiday and the week is re let, no charge is made.
- If you cancel within six weeks of your holiday, the 20% deposit is non refundable.
- If you cancel within four weeks of the hirer remains liable for the balance of the total cost of the holiday. You should take out holiday insurance.
If you are forced to cancel your holiday because of adverse weather conditions, or any other major issue such as a World Health Organisation pandemic - insurance cover should allow you to claim for irrecoverable accommodation costs. We advise you to take out cancellation insurance and check the policy covers you for this eventuality. - Cancellations by the Owner: We will provide a full refund for any holiday rental that cannot take place as a result of the cottage being unavailable. There will be no other compensation offered.
- Access: We, the owners, or our representatives, shall be allowed to access Tawelfa at any time to carry out any essential maintenance or other inspection relevant for the safety of the property.
- Occupancy: The number of persons occupying Tawelfa must not exceed the maximum number of 4 (excluding infants under 12 months).
- Lost Property: We regret that we cannot accept responsibility for any lost property left behind after your stay.
We will make every effort to return lost property within 14 days. Items not claimed after 28 days will be disposed of.
The use of the cottage/contents is entirely at the user’s risk. We cannot accept responsibility for any injury or death to the hirer or any of their party, or other third parties, or for loss or damage to their belongings, vehicles or their contents or any other personal possessions or monies.
Any theft occurring during your stay due to lack of vigilance in terms of locking the property will invalidate the terms of the insurance and thus costs will have to be met by yourself. - Television: Tawelfa has Freeview and an Amazon fire stick giving access to more channels. A DVD player is also available for guests’ use.
- Wi-Fi: Tawelfa’s Wi-Fi password is on the back of the Wi-Fi router in the lounge:
- Not to use the WiFi for any unlawful, inappropriate or immoral purpose;
- Not to make any use of the WiFi such that the whole or part of the WiFi is interrupted, damaged, rendered less efficient, or the effectiveness or functionality of the WiFi is in any way impaired. This includes limiting the amount of large files to be uploaded and gaming/streaming movies;
- The band width can be an issue as it is a rural area service and has limitations. Not to use the WiFi for the transmission or posting of any computer viruses or any material which is defamatory, offensive or of an obscene or menacing character or in such a way as to cause annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety;
- Not to use the WiFi in a manner which constitutes a violation or infringement of the rights of any person, firm or company (including rights of copyright or confidentiality);
- Not to use the WiFi to transmit any material for the purposes of publicity, promotion and/or advertising without the prior written consent of the Owner unless such transmission has been specifically requested by another User of the WiFi;
- That in the event that it has any right, claim or action against any other user arising out of the use of the WiFi then it shall pursue such right, claim or action independently of, and without recourse to, the Owner;
- The User will indemnify and defend Owners against all claims, liability, damages, costs and expenses, including legal fees, arising out of a breach of these Terms and Conditions or any Use of the WiFi by the User. The User acknowledges that Owners have no control over the nature or content of information or programs transmitted or received by the User using the WiFi and that Owners do not examine in any way the use to which the User puts the WiFi. The User agrees to fully indemnify the Owner against any claims or legal proceedings arising in connection with User’s use of the WiFi which are brought or threatened against the Owner by any other person.
- The WiFi service is free of charge.
- Health and Safety: There is a Welcome Folder in the sideboard drawer at Tawelfa which includes emergency contact details and instruction leaflets for the appliances. Please ensure that the instructions provided are followed by the relevant manufacturer in order to keep safe and look after the appliances. If anything breaks or fails to work, please advise us as soon as is feasible and a replacement can be provided. In terms of fire safety, there are smoke detectors, a fire extinguisher and fire blanket.
- Children's Safety: Cleaning materials are left for the use of guests during your stay. It is the responsibility of guests to ensure that children are safe whilst in the cottage and are not able to access the cupboards where products are kept.
- Lost Keys: The key box contains the front door key, we suggest you use this to enter the cottage then place it back in
the key box. There is an addition set of keys in the kitchen for day to day use during your stay. The key ring has a unique
number and is registered with Anglesey Social Media, in the unlikely event the key is lost, please advise us immediately so
we can try to locate the key. A charge of £30 may be made if the key needs to be replaced.
We strongly advise all guests to leave the key in the key safe when going out for the day.
We hope you enjoy your stay at Tawelfa!
